Amitabh Bachchan, born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, India, is a legendary actor in the Indian film industry, widely regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema. His full name is Amitabh Harivansh Rai Shrivastava Bachchan. He is also fondly known as the “Shahenshah” (Emperor) of Bollywood.

Amitabh Bachchan was born into a distinguished family. His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a renowned Hindi poet, and his mother, Teji Bachchan, was a social activist. From an early age, Amitabh showed an interest in performing arts and participated in school plays. His journey into the world of entertainment, however, began as a narrator in the National Award-winning film “Bhuvan Shome” (1969).

His breakthrough came with the film “Zanjeer” in 1973, directed by Prakash Mehra. This marked the beginning of the “angry young man” persona that would become synonymous with Amitabh Bachchan’s image. The 1970s and 1980s were the peak of his career, with a string of iconic films such as “Deewar,” “Sholay,” “Don,” and “Coolie.” His intense performances, deep baritone voice, and charismatic screen presence earned him immense popularity and established him as the industry’s megastar.

In 2000, he also ventured into television as the host of the immensely successful game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” which further added to his iconic status.

Beyond acting, Amitabh Bachchan has explored various facets of the entertainment industry. He has lent his voice to numerous documentaries and films, and his popularity extends to the international stage. He has been honored with several awards, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, India’s highest civilian honors.
